On Friday, April 10th at Magnolia Gardens Extended Care - Barbara Lingham died of natural causes in her hundredth year.
Born in London, England, she emigrated to Canada with her husband Jack and two young children, subsequently moving with them to Nairobi, Kenya and eventually settling in Langley, British Columbia in the country she loved.
Throughout her life Barbara gave generously of her time to many charities and organizations including Girl Guides, Job's Daughters, St, Andrews Anglican Church, Langley Memorial Hospital, and Children's Aide in Ontario where she provided foster care for newborns. She was devoted to her two daughters Linda and Helen and her three grandchildren - Michael Crompton, Emma Crompton and Kailee Lingham. And she kept her particular sense of humor, stubbornness and refusal to give up, to the end.
The family extends a special thanks to the staff of Harrison Landing and Magnolia Gardens, both in Langley, for their special care during her final years.
A celebration of Barbara's life will be planned in future weeks.
