BRYNEISEN, Bernard O. OBC, P Eng Bern Bryneisen of Langley passed away peacefully on the farm with his loving daughter Karen and Son-in-law John on July 27, 2004.
Bern has just completed 92 and 3/4 years of an incredibly interesting, exciting and rewarding life.After graduation from UBC, Student President of class of 35, as a Mining engineer he became superintendent of Polaris Taku Gold mines, then British Columbia manager of Quebec Mining Corp and finally Western Manager of Noranda Mines.He opened the Gold King Mine in Wenatchee, Washington (later named the Canon Mine), was the president of Husky Aircraft Manufacturing, developed Bell Copper Mine, Brenda Copper Mine and Viceroy Gold Mine. He remained active as a director or board member of numerous mining companies well Bern's accolades included:HH "Spud" Huestis award (1980), Edger A Scholz medal (1990), British Columbia and Yukon Chamber of Commerce award (1991), Order of British Columbia (1991), Howe Street Award (1992), Induction into the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame (1994), Queen's Golden Bern was a kind and loving man; he touched everyone with his great generosity, great intelligence, and lively spirit.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and especially by his favorite niece, Dr. Dana Bryneisen and his favorite nephew. He had a life long passion for fishing and would no doubt say, " in lieu of flowers take the money and buy yourself some good fishing gear".The delight of the week for the last two and a half years of his life was to go to the Langley Senior Centre Adult Day Care on Tuesday and Thursday. He loved the staff and enjoyed making friends.
A celebration of Bern's life will be held on Sunday August 1, 2004 (1 pm) at South Langley Mennonite Brethren Church 20098 22nd Ave. Langley, BC.
