HUTCHINSON; Bryn Frederick
Aged 17 years, died on July 6, 2016, as a passenger in a motor vehicle accident. Bryn lived his entire life in Langley, attending Langley Fine Arts School from grade one through grade 12, where he was a member of all four senior music ensembles: choir, concert band, jazz band, and orchestra. He was also involved with the sound recording studio and film making, writing and shooting several nature documentaries and participating in the BC Student Film Festival. He was a serious student who worked hard toward academic excellence, with a view to attending university and ultimately pursuing a career in biology. He was accepted into both SFU and UBC, choosing UBC after much considered thought. Outside of school, Bryn was passionate about the natural world. He was a birder who delighted in travelling both locally and internationally to add species to his life list, which already numbered over 600. Beyond birds, however, he was interested in every aspect of our world, from insects, mammals, and plants, to geography, geology, climate, and oceanography. He read books ranging from novels by his favourite author, Jasper Fforde, to non-fiction works on the sciences. Bryn was a compassionate, tolerant, and caring friend who accepted everyone as they were. He wanted to help his friends always, whether that meant lending them lunch money or working through a difficult school assignment. The time he spent with his friends was very precious to him, and he spoke of them with warmth and respect. Bryn is survived by his parents, Marian Buechert and Mark Hutchinson, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many loving relatives and friends. He filled his short 17 years on this earth with so much love, enthusiasm, learning, curiosity, and laughter. Bryn, we miss your voice, your laugh, your thoughts, your spirit so very much. You live forever in our hearts.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 16, at 2 pm, at the Chief Sepass Theatre, Langley Fine Arts School, 9096 Trattle St, Fort Langley.
