Cecil HOLMES

HOLMES: Cecil Nelson. Born December 5, 1924 in Port Arthur, Ontario, passed away suddenly January 5, 2005 in Surrey, B.C. Predeceased by his beloved wife Margaret in 1999 and his brother Keith.

Survived by his brother Grant (Yvonne), sister June, daughter Sharon, sons Barry and Randall (Jane) and granddaughters Amanda and Kathryn.

Cecil served in the Canadian Armed Forces from 1942 to 1946, traversing the Atlantic on a Corvette ship working as a radar operator. Shortly after his discharge from service, he moved to B.C., settling in Fleetwood, Surrey, where he and Margaret raised their family and made lifelong friends.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank Ed and Pat Capmbell for their faithful friendship and support.

A celebration of Cecil's life will be held Thursday, January 20th at 2:00 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home (Arbor Chapel), 14660 72nd Ave., Surrey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CKNW Orphans Fund of the B.C. Children's Foundation.
