Connie Ponti (nee King), 75, of Hope, BC passed away at Fraser Canyon Hospital in Hope on July 31, 2019 surrounded by her loving family after a 10-month battle with cancer. Connie will forever be lovingly remembered by her husband Bert; three sons Michael (Erin), Chris (Tammy), Kevin (Jenny) and daughter Tannis (Martin); sisters Joan Pelles and Karen Westeen; brother Terrence King (Val); and her six grandchildren (Marco, Erin, Vianna, Nicholas, Emily & Sarah); as well as extended family, friends and neighbours.
Connie was born in Nelson, BC and grew up in the beautiful Kootenay towns of Trail, Salmo & Nelson. Connie and Bert were high school sweethearts in Salmo and married on May 17, 1965 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. After a few years living in both Vancouver and Dawson Creek, Connie and Bert settled in Langley in 1968 to start their family. After the kids left home, Connie and Bert decided to go back to their 'small town' roots and moved to Hope in 2006, in a house big enough to accommodate their growing family.
Connie was a loving wife and an amazing mother, always fiercely loyal and supportive of those she loved. She was smart, articulate, curious, gentle, gracious and genuine. She was a voracious reader, passionate in her beliefs, and her creativity shone through in her sewing and quilting.
There will be no service by request, and in lieu of flowers, donations in Connie's name to the charity of your choice would be deeply appreciated.
