Don Mee

September 16, 1936 - July 11, 2021
On Sunday, July 11 2021, Donald Frances Mee, loving husband, brother, uncle and cherished friend to so many, passed away at the age of 84.
Don was born on September 16, 1936, in Revelstoke, British Columbia. His father Sham Lai Mee, was in the military and a highly recognized chef. Don grew up in Vancouver. He was a highly respected employee of BC Conveying Machinery for well over 30 years. He was recognized for his excellence both mechanically and with people, and was promoted to and worked as Foreman for many years.
On August 29, 1959, Don married his lifelong love and best friend Georgina (Geor) Marie Sauder. Theirs was a union of love, respect, and adventure for over 60 years.
Don truly enjoyed his gardening, wood work, and travel, whether RVing or flying to one of his and Geor's favourite places in Hawaii. He relished his regular get togethers with friends. During this past year he really missed their weekly Poker matches. Don and Geor opened their home and hearts to many.
Always making their family, including those a bit farther away in Osoyoos, Castlegar, and Ontario, feel welcome, spoiled and loved on every visit. This did not stop with family. They hosted international students, such as Kevin Chen while he completed his studies, creating a lifelong friendship. Don was known for his steadfast kindness and warmth.
Don was preceded in death by his father Sham, sister Shirley, and brother Lyle. He is survived by his wife Georgina, his sister Cathy, brother and sister in laws; John, Lloyd, Claudia and Grace and his many nieces and nephews, who adored their Uncle Don; Christine, Jennifer, Cindy, Gary, Craig, David, Kim, Wendy, Cindy, and Shelley.
The Celebration of Life for Don will be held on August 14, 2021 at 1 pm - 4 pm at First Memorial Funeral Services Fraser Heights Chapel, 14835 Fraser Highway Surrey, BC, V3R 3N6.
