June 14, 1932 - October 13, 2018
Don was born in Morden, Manitoba to Alfred Woodward McIntyre and Isabel Valentine McIntyre (nee Macey). Don graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelors of Arts and Don worked as a claims manager in the insurance industry. He married the love of his life Dorothy Ann Redfearn in 1957. They raised their family in Winnipeg, Calgary and Edmonton. In 1988 he was transferred to Langley BC where he retired. After Dorothy died in 2013, Don took a solo trip to Tuktoyaktuk in February, 2015 at the age of 82 as a fundraiser for the cancer society.

Don considered himself the most fortunate of men, blessed with 56 years of love with his wonderful wife, Dorothy and another couple of years of love with Myrna Huggan, his dear partner for the last years of his life. Myrna visited Don every day during his last days in the hospital and finally the hospice.

Don leaves behind his sister, Elizabeth (Lynn), sons Matthew and Cameron (Darlene), daughter Kathleen (Phil), grandchildren Arica (Bryce), Kate, Larisa, Joshua, Emily (Josh), Nathan Ross, Joanna, Xiomara, Benjamin, Jacob, and great grandchildren Cooper and Michael.

Many thanks to Reverends Kelly Duncan and Laurie Deacon for their care and attentiveness to Dad in his last weeks, and to the staff at Crossroads Inlet Hospice and the Royal Columbian Hospital who were unfailingly kind and compassionate.
