It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts we announce the unexpected passing of Donald Thomas (Tom) Reed. Tom was predeceased by his mother Betty Reed.
Tom will be deeply missed by his father Don Reed, wife Nancy Reed, daughters Meghan Bennie (Eric), Laura Silva (David), grandchildren Emma and Cole Silva, Ethan and Sophie Bennie, siblings Anne Pearson (Terry), Jim Reed (Elaine), David Reed; extended family Sandy Parfitt (John), Bruce Campbell (Corinna) and father in law Ian Campbell. Tom has numerous nieces and nephews in addition to many close friends.
Tom worked 38 plus years at Columbia Bitulithic and Lafarge. Beneath Tom's gentle gruffness and dedicated work ethic was a true Heart of Gold. Tom truly valued his family, close friends, and colleagues. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need of his help. Where ever you may drive in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, Tom's 38 plus years of contribution to transportation infrastructure was significant.
The family are grateful for the exemplary and compassionate care given by the ICU staff at RCH. In lieu of flowers family would gratefully request gifts be made to the BCIT Foundation in support of a legacy scholarship. The endowment will support student awards in the trades. A Celebration of Life for Tom will be held on Friday May 11, 2018, 2 pm at the Sharon United Church in Langley. Reception to follow.
