KING, Doreen Mary (nee Steele)

June 11,1936 - Oct. 4,2008.

Doreen passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on October 4th in Langley Memorial Hospital. She will be remembered by her husband Ken, their son Patrick and daughter-in-law Diane, as well as many other family members and special friends whose lives she touched. She was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Kathleen (Kay) Steele and her sister Patricia Steele. After graduating from high school in Grand Forks BC, Doreen went on to University to become a teacher and married Ken, a handsome R.C.M.P. officer (who had the courage to date his boss's daughter) on July 25,1959. Their life in the R.C.M.P. took them to many cities across Canada, making friends wherever they went. Doreen was a devoted and loving wife and mother, an inspirational and celebrated teacher, and an accomplished artist. She was also a very enthusiastic and compassionate friend. In her spirit of generosity and gratefulness, we give thanks to all of you who provided assistance and encouragement for Doreen and who continue to support Ken. A celebration of Doreen's life was held on Tuesday, October 14th.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Doreen's memory for the establishment of a Memorial Scholarship to: Doreen King Memorial Scholarship Trust Fund, c/o Langley Scholarship Committee, Ms. M. Pepin, 25323 - 12 Ave., Aldergrove, BC, V4W 3N2.
