Dorothy Pearlana 'Penny' Mullin (nee Wright)

August 16, 1946 - February 23, 2023
Dorothy Pearlana "Penny" Mullin (nee Wright) passed away February 23rd, 2023 at Langley Hospice.
Predeceased by her husband Jack in 2020.
Survived by her children Jamie (Jennifer), Dennis (Alena), Daryl (Nicole), and grandchildren Josh (Nikkita), Julia (Isaiah), Jocelyn (Josh), Judah, Brayden, Brody, Everly, Victoria, and four great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her brothers Willie (Diane), Joe (Jeannette), Jim (Leona), and sister Alice (Raul).
Penny was born to John William Barnes and Dorothy Emily Wright on August 16th, 1946 in New Westminster, B.C.
Immediately after graduating high school, she started as a secretary at Aldergrove Secondary, and continued to work at various Langley elementary schools, before settling at DW Poppy in 1989. She would go on to serve the high school until her retirement in 2014.
Penny married Richard Quiring in 1966, and the two had Jamie in 1973 and the twins Dennis and Daryl in 1975, before separating in 1991.
She worked hard to provide for her family by selling Princess House Crystal and Avon after school. Penny was an active member of her community and devoted Beta Sigma Phi Sorority sister. In 1997 she married Jack Mullin, and the two enjoyed spending time in Hawaii, playing bingo, and trips to the casino.
After suffering a stroke in 2012, Penny worked hard to recuperate and joined Langley's Stroke Optimistic Atmosphere Recovery group. She then moved to Harrison Pointe retirement community where she made lots of new friends and enjoyed participating in crafts, games, outings, and activities.
On her 76th birthday she was diagnosed with cancer and spent the last months of her life in the care of Langley Hospice where she received a steady stream of loving visitors.
Special thanks to the doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers of the Doug and Fran MacDonald Hospice Residence for their care of our beloved Penny.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 25th at DW Poppy Secondary.
