Edna Dorothy McLeod passed away peacefully into her Heavenly Home on Sunday morning July 23, 2017 at Menno Hospital in Abbotsford BC. Edna was born Dec. 16, 1926 in Keewatin, Ontario to Lillian and Fred Seifred. Shortly after, her family moved to BC, first to Rutland and later to Aldergrove where her father owned a large farm. She married Bruce in Langley in 1946. Bruce drove truck and operated heavy equipment, which took them to many places in the interior of BC. They eventually settled in Quesnel and in 1968 they started a local delivery service (McLeod Transfer) with Edna driving truck and moving furniture. In 1975 they moved to Surrey and later spent 13 years in Port Hardy. In 2001 they returned to Langley where they spent their last years. Although Edna devoted most of her years to raising her 7 children she also found time to work as a waitress, seamstress, Sunday School superintendent and much more. In Surrey she owned and operated her own maternity and children’s wear store, Rosebud Fashions. In Port Hardy she managed an apartment building, cleaning, furnishing and renting. She was a hard worker and always put her great organizing skills to good use. Edna found a lot of comfort and joy in her faith and family. Although she faced many hardships she had incredible energy and resilience and always took an active role in her community and family. She spent a great deal of time connecting with distant relatives while researching her genealogy and she never forgot a birthday or anniversary. She was such a strong woman and was so proud of all her kids and grandkids. She loved each one as though they were the only one. She is survived by her children: Dorothy Friesen (Bob), Marj Sales (Bob), Darlene Richardson (Thomas), Lynn Hadfield (Ross), Grant McLeod (Barb), Gary McLeod (Carol), Doug McLeod. She leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren as well as her brothers Fred Seifred (Evelyn), Earl Seifred (Doreen), Gloria Rossler and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband Bruce in 2003, her infant daughter Sharon in 1966, her sister Ruth Fryatt, and brothers Roy Seifred and Stanley Seifred. A Celebration of Life for Edna will be held on August 1, 2017 2:00 pm at Christian Life Assembly, 21277 56 Ave., Langley, BC. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Neil McLeod Memorial Park (Township of Langley Parks and Rec).
