November 7, 1958 - November 24, 2020
Taken from us far too early, our beautiful Jane was a wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, and a dear friend to many. Born November 7, 1958 in Rossland BC to Gael and Stan Fisher, Jane grew up skiing Red Mountain in winter and summering at Balfour on the shores of Kootenay Lake.
A move to Vancouver after high school saw Jane enter the insurance industry with MSA (Blue Cross). A few years later, Jane met her future husband Jim after being asked to be a 4th for a birthday dinner in his honour. Sparks flew everywhere, and a lifelong romance began.
Jane and Jim had two sons, Sam and Matt, and Jane took time away from work pouring her heart and soul into being the best mother she could be. Jane returned to work when the Sam and Matt were old enough but a diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease in 2002 led to an early retirement.
Throughout her time living with Parkinson's Jane rarely complained, exhibiting the same grace and elegance she displayed in all aspects of her life.
Jane loved her family, her friends, flowers, and interior design. She loved travelling (ah Italia!) great music and good food. OK, and the odd cold beer. Jane loved beauty in all its forms, from a weathered door in Cinque Terre to the simplicity of some pine boughs on a table in winter.
Predeceased by her father Stan, Jane leaves behind to grieve her mother Gael, brother John, Sam, Matt, and her adoring husband Jim, as well as so many, many people who felt a special connection with her. Jane had that effect on people. Look around, and the next time you see something truly beautiful, think of Jane and smile.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers a donation to the Pacific Parkinson's Research Institute at UBC would be appreciated. https://www.pacificparkinsons.org/
