Stuart - Elsie (nee Bailey)

August 14 1926 -December 14 2007


It is with profound love and sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother sister and friend. Elsie passed away peacefully with family by her side in the early afternoon of December 14th after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her sister Ruth, children Barbara (Larry) Gignac, Ruth (Nigel) Grant, Doug (Kathy), Jo-Ann (Dwight) Chatterley, Ken (Lisa), and Kim; grandchildren Shane, Shannon, Jarrett, Kelsie, Dillon, Jessica, Sam, Ken and Crista; great-grandchildren Chasity and Madison. Predeceased by her parents John and Mary Louisa, her husband Charles, and brothers John, David and Frank, and sister Louisa. Elsie was born in Morse, Saskatchewan. Following the death of her parents John & Elsie Pollock of Morse raised her. In 1944 Elsie moved to Winnipeg Manitoba to train to be a nurse. Elsie met Charles Stuart whom she married in 1948 before settling in Brandon Manitoba to raise a family. In 1982 Charles and Elsie moved to Langley BC to begin a life of retirement and be closer to their children, grandchildren, family, and friends. Elsie will be fondly remembered for her kind and generous spirit. She touched the lives of all who knew her.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Linda Ducholke, Dr W. Gittens and the nurses, and staff at the Royal Columbian Hospital. A huge thank-you to the Dr. Adamson, as well as the nurses and volunteers at the Langley Hospice who made these final weeks a time of peace for Elsie and her family. A Celebration of Elsie's life will be held on Friday December 21st. at 1:00 p.m. at Henderson's Langley Funeral Home, 20786 Fraser Highway. In lieu of flowers a donation in memory of Elsie can be made to the Langley Hospice Society at 20088 40A Avenue, Langley, BC, V3A 2Y6


A Heart of Gold stopped beating

Hard working hands at rest

God broke our hearts to prove to us

He only takes the best

The leaves and flowers may wither

The golden sun may set

But the hearts that loved so dearly

Are the ones who won't forget
