It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of our beloved mother & grandmother. She was predeceased by her husband Norm, and siblings Don, Ed, Dorothy & Alba. Em is survived by her children Chuck (Mary) Builder & Ann (Gord) Douglas, and grandchildren Kevin (Lindsay) & Jen.

Mom was born to Bernard & Maria (nee deVeer) Dierker in Carbon, Alberta. She lost her father to cancer at age 8. It was a tough life for the family, but she put herself through business college, ending up at the Bank of Nova Scotia in Vancouver. There she met Dad on a blind date, got married, and joined him at Pioneer Mine (near Lillooet) where he worked as paymaster. They came back to the Coast after a couple of years & raised the family in North Van.

Mom & Dad enjoyed their trips to Mexico & Hawaii. Upon retirement Mom agreed to move to Killiney Beach in the Okanagan. She made new friends, took pride in getting grants for the building of the Community Center & Firehall, and served as President of the Community Association. They also enjoyed their winters in Mesa, AZ.

She will be deeply missed by her family & friends, and everyone at Harrison Landing.

The family would like to thank the staff at Harrison, especially Susan, Nikki, Tracy, Erinn, Mikayla, Leslie, and Michelle, for the compassion & care they provided.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, April 20, 2018 at 11 am at Henderson's Funeral Home, 20786 Fraser Highway, Langley, BC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Langley Seniors Center Society, Canadian Cancer Society, or the charity of your choice.

Goodbye mom and grandma, we love you.
