Esther Geneva CLUNEY

CLUNEY, Esther Geneva. Late of Chilliwack, formerly of Langley, B.C., passed away peacefully December 16, 2006 at Chilliwack General Hospital, age 84 years. Esther was born in Calgary, Alta. March 18, 1922, the oldest of 12 children born to Peter and Catherine Schumaker. The family moved to the Lone Pine District of Didsbury, Alta. when Esther was very young, and remained in Didsbury until she married Albert Lorne Cluney December 24, 1941. Al and Esther moved to Vancouver, B.C. and remained there until 1957 when they moved to Langley, B.C., and Esther remained in Langley until May 2005. Esther is survived by her son Robert James and daughter-in-law Amy Cluney of Willingdon, Alta., and grandson Robert of Edmonton, Alta.; and daughter Katherine Ann Rusten; grandchildren, Brandie and Jeremy, and great-granddaughter Bailey, all of Chilliwack. She is also survived by brothers, Bill Schumaker of Didsbury, Alta., Ray (Kay) Schumaker of Red Deer, Alta., Stan Schumaker of Rimbey, Alta., and Les (Dorothy) Schumaker of Calgary, Alta., sisters, Gloria (Don) Andrews of Kelowna, B.C., and Joyce Phinney of Brandon, Man., sister-in-laws, Vera Schumaker of Victoria, B.C., Jean Sinclair of Didsbury, Alta., and Dorleen (Bob) Bateman of Dothan, Alabama; and many nieces and nephews. Esther was predeceased by her father and mother, Peter and Catherine Schumaker; husband Albert Cluney; brothers, Percy Schumaker, Harvey Schumaker, Jim Schumaker, and Reg Schumaker; sister Bernice Clendenan; and sisters-in-law, Dolly Schumaker, and Jessie Schumaker.
