In loving memory ~
CHITTICK, Fern Pauline passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at 98 years of age. Fern is predeceased by her husband Tom; her sister Betty Croswell and sister Doris Sproule; niece Lee Sproule and many close cousins. She is survived by her daughter Barbara (Randy) Murie and their 4 children: Philip (Laura), Michael (Janna), Christopher and Leah; her daughter Colleen (Allan) Cradock and their daughters Melanie and Alison; and her sister Shirley (Scott) Donald.
Fern was born in Watson, Saskatchewan in 1924, eventually moving to B.C. in the late 1940's joining her family who had already established their home in Langley. Fern was the eldest of 4 girls, raised on a farm in Saskatchewan, full of life and always laughing and smiling. She loved people and had a heart of service always putting others first. It was not unusual for her to have an extra mouth to feed for supper but this didn't bother Fern at all. She would always find enough food for everyone and if there wasn't any, she'd make more. She was an amazing lady. She always had a fruit salad made or her famous poached eggs on toast.
Fern worked as a bookkeeper/office worker, Purchasing Agent; in various banks, hospitals and offices. Fern embraced life and loved being active and in 1986 at 62 years of age, Fern joined her sister Shirley in the BC Summer Games in Orienteering. At 78 she joined a gym and at 90 was still going strong and was the oldest person at that time at 'She's Fit'. Fern will be remembered for her dedication to her family; she was a devoted Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Cousin; for her absolute joy of life, amazingly great attitude and her laughter and smile. We were so blessed to have her as a mother. A friend said "that when we have such wonderful moms, it's God's way of giving us His best! How privileged we are to have a handpicked mother by God." He certainly did that in our mom, Fern.
"God took her home - it was His will. Within our hearts she liveth still"
Thank you for the special care she always received at Sunridge Gardens in Langley and The Residences at Morgan Heights care home. In Lieu of flowers, please give a generous donation to your favourite charity.
