Herta GACHA

GACHA, Herta (nee Pastrik) aged 88 years passed into the presence of the Lord on Sunday, June 27, 2010. She was predeceased by her husband, Andy, and all of her siblings. She will be remembered by her daughter and son-in-law Karen and Dave McCreadie, her grandchildren Mark (Amy) and Krista, her great-grandson Isaac, her foster son Paul (Kim) Holmgren & nieces and nephews here & in Germany.

Herta was born Mar 22, 1922 in the German village of Rostowic in Poland. She came to Canada in 1949 settling in Langley where she met and married her husband Andy that same year. She joined Andy on his farm on 216th St in Langley and they worked together there until 1963 when the family moved to their hobby farm in Aldergrove. Herta spent the next several years raising a family and enjoying her garden. In 1971 she went to work for the Langley Homemaker's Society. She spent the next 13 years working and meeting many new and interesting people and making new friends. Herta remained on the hobby farm in Aldergrove after her husband passed away in 2005. She joined the Langley Senior's Center and made new friends and enjoyed several trips with them. She was also a frequent visitor to the Otter Co-op! In 2008 following a stroke, Herta moved to Hilltop Manor in Murrayville where she became part of the family of old and new friends and she flourished under their excellent care.

A funeral service will be held at the Langley Gospel Hall, 221st St. and 48 Ave, in Murrayville on Friday July 2 at 9am. Personal Alternatives in charge of arrangements. The family is grateful to Dr. Peter Methven for his care and his kindness.
