Hywel ROBERTS

ROBERTS: Hwyel - late of Langley passed away on February 10, 2005 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Cardiff, United Kingdom on May 10, 1928 an only child; he was a scientist (entomologist); loving husband and father.

He is survived by his wife Norma; children Jonathan, John and Elizabeth and friends and family in Canada, the Philippines and UK.

His earlier years took him to Kenya and Lieutenant of the National Reseach Service, then to Nigeria on Colonial Service. He became an expert in Entomology and insect pests of populars in Iraq. In the early 70's he was in Fiji. He was the Chief Entomologist in Papua, New Guinea and fluent in Pidgin, the language of that place. He was a consultant to the United Nations in Bangladesh and Iraq. He had published research in his line of speciality - too many to mention. He was invited to the Symposium and did consultant work internationally on dangerous forest diseases and insects. He was a man of many accomplishments but still found time to take care of and nurture his family. His great sense of humor will live on in the memories of his family and friends.

A service to honor his life will be held Saturday, February 19 at 11:00 a.m.at Henderson's Funeral Home, 20786 Fraser Highway, Langley followed by burial in Langley Lawn Cemetery.
