Irene Vogt (nee Braun)

In loving memory ~

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our mom, Irene Vogt, who passed away on October 29, 2024, in Langley, BC, at the age of 85. Born on May 9, 1939, our mom spent her life deeply rooted in her love for her family, friends, and faith.

Known for her warm hospitality and the joy she found in entertaining family and friends, Irene's home was often filled with laughter. Her strong Christian faith guided her throughout her life, influencing her actions and interactions with those around her.

Irene was born in Rosengart Russia from where she partook in a 9 year trek, with her parents and siblings, that took her from Russia to Austria and Germany and finally to Canada. Irene and her family finally ended up in Abbotsford BC where her life in Canada truly began.

Irene started working at a young age at a wide variety of jobs including work on the family farm, dry cleaners, hair dressing and a long stint with Union Carbide.

Besides spending time with her family and friends, Irene also loved to travel, seeing a great deal of the world.

Irene is survived by her devoted husband, John; her children, Ken, Barb (Warren), and Julie (Eric); and her grandchildren, Amanda, Nicholas, Joe, Brandon and Shaun; great grandchildren, and her sister Mary. She leaves behind a legacy of love, work ethic and cherished memories.

A service to honour Irene's life will be held at Valley View Funeral Home in Surrey on November 15, 2024, at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Society of BC.
