Jean passed away peacefully at the age of 94 at home on the Davis Farm with family by her side.
Aunt Jean will always be loved and deeply missed by her 1 nephew and 7 nieces Lesley Davis, Jane (Dwight) Giesbrecht, Patricia (Tom) McEvay, Linda (Brooke) Whitelaw, Diane Davis, David (Nicole) Davis, Susan (Jeff) Hubbard and Kathleen Davis. As well as 14 Great niece and nephews and 11 Great, Great niece and nephews.
Having lived over 94 years on the family farm and working for over 35 years at the five to a dime store, it didn't slow Aunt Jean down when it came to travelling. Some highlights for Jean were Europe, Asia, Caribbean, Eastern Canada, and of course her yearly 2 months stay in Mexico that she enjoyed for over 20 years.
Jean was a devoted member of the Milner Community Association (a church her grandfather helped build). She was always quick to help set up at the potlucks and picnics - never missing an event. She would remind her family a month in advance when the picnic would occur and expect to see them there!
Jean was an avid photographer, winning many awards. She participated with the Langley Camera Club for many years and enjoyed looking at and judging the many photos. She was a Native Daughter, helping to make many lunches that they would cater, and she happily volunteered her time with the May Day parade. She worshiped at the Fort Langley United Church and enjoyed the craft fairs and Thursday evening Irish Ceilidh.
We will always remember Aunt Jean as a keeper of time. Arriving early to every event, and being upset with you, if you were late. She didn't wait for you to invite her over instead she had her own weekly and monthly list of friends she would visit. Jean always remembered your birthday and sent you a card with pocket money at Christmas and Easter. While you would never get invited to her house for supper, she would bring mince meat pies and Christmas pudding for dessert, or make her Watkins coleslaw, rice pudding and rhubarb sauce to share.
Aunt Jean we will miss your gift of time, your cards, but mostly you always being there.
