July 15, 1939 - May 1, 2020
Jim passed away peacefully from natural causes at home in the company of his loving wife Denise on May 1, 2020 in Langley, BC. Jim was born to Jack and Jean Sheaff in New Westminster on July 15, 1939. He grew up in Cloverdale until moving to Lake Cowichan at the age of 11 with siblings Ted, Doug, Judy and Janice. Jim was always a gifted and passionate athlete, setting track records, organizing neighbourhood pick up games, and playing on every team available. He maintained lifelong friendships with Duck and Bill from his childhood and spent his life building relationships with people. He married the love of his life, Denise in 1966 with whom he shared 53 years of marriage and raised four children: John (Lois), Jerry (Erin), Susan (Kirk), and Jamie (Jessica). He completed his degree at the University of Victoria and began his career teaching in Port Alberni, then in Victoria, and spent most of his career as a school administrator in Abbotsford. Here he was able to fulfill his dream of owning a farm and raised cattle with his family on south Bradner Road. He continued his love of sports throughout his life coaching in schools and in the community, even in his final years. He was an exceptional husband, father, and grandfather. He was the rock and sounding board for many and will be cherished in our hearts forever. Jim is survived by Denise, his devoted wife, his four children, their spouses, and his 10 grandchildren: Livia, Jordan, Sophia, Elias, Sasha, Jacob, Everett, Claire, Mark, and Ophelia. Heart felt appreciation goes out to the first responders who showed such care and compassion.
A Celebration of Life will take place when possible.
