MCTAGGART, John Andrew. July 25, 1923 - July 26, 2009. Born in Vancouver, John lived in Langley from 1951-2009 and died peacefully with his family by his side. Survived by his beloved wife Donna of 60 years, children Nancy (Garnet), Dave (Tomana), and Janice (Jim), grandchildren Scott (Aubyn), Melynn (Kris), Megan, Andrew, Emma, Ian and Peter and great-grandchildren Reuben, Elizabeth and Evelynn. John is also survived by his sister Mary (Frank), brothers Ralph (Audrey) and Harry (Helen) , and a large extended family. John served in the Canadian Navy during the Second World War, and was a well-respected educator and administrator in the Langley school district for 30 years (B.Ed UBC, M.Ed/Admin UofA, and graduate of the Vancouver School of Art). He was the first principal of H.D. Stafford Secondary School. John was actively involved in the United Church for most of his life. A celebration of John's life will be held at Sharon United Church (21562 Old Yale Road, Langley), on Thursday, July 30 at 11:00 am, Rev. Karen Verveda officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John may be made to Sharon United Church Memorial Fund.
