February 8, 1939 - September 13, 2018
John William Robert Stammers aka Grumps left our family on September 13, 2018.He loved his wife of 57 years, Ann and children Donna (George), Duane, Mark (Mariann), grandchildren Antonios,(Erin), Anthea (Joseph ), Cory (Ashley ),Raymond ( Jessica )Steven and one great grandson Alexander. However, three more great grandchildren are due next year to which he was very excited. He will remain in our hearts forever.
Dad aka Grumps was born February, 8th, 1939. A strong blue collar cockney man. According to tradition, true Cockneys must be born within earshot of the bells of St Mary-le-Bow Church, Cheapside. That our dad was. He loved his sport, with Chelsea, Canucks, BC Lions and Seattle Seahawks being his favorite teams. He lived hard, drank hard and taught us to be strong. But deep down he was a softy, a teddy bear. Always set you straight and loved you like no other. He loved Mario Lanza and Shirley Bassey. His friends and pub being very important to him.
We will miss you Dad. We are not sure how we will go on without you. But we know you are lifting a pint, with everyone, who has gone before you.
No service or flowers by request. Instead any donations to BC Children's Hospital in his name gratefully requested.
