Joy JONES

April 3, 2004

JONES, Joy. The children of Joy Jones announce with profound sadness the death of their mother on Saturday, April 3, 2004.

The children, Madeleine of Pritchard, B.C., Ken of Yorkshire, England, Cliff (Darlene) of Chase, B.C., Malcolm (Bridget) of Yorkshire, and Tasha of Langley, B.C., are deeply grateful for her love and loyalty, her selflessness, her caring, compassionate and generous nature, and for her wonderful sense of humour which she exhibited right up to the end of her 83 years.

She took enormous pride in her grandchildren: Daniel and Jimmy (Madeleine's children), Sarah and Anna (Ken), David, Des and Felicity (Cliff), Edward, James and Jonathan (Malcolm), and Denby and Tessa (Tasha), and her great grandchildren Andrew, Shelby, Jane, Merry, Dani, Joseph and David.

Joy was born on Dec. 24, 1920 in Ealing, London, the daughter of Elsie and Reg Simonds. She was predeceased by them, her sister Daphne, and is survived by her brother Desmond (Barbara) in England, and relatives in Canada, England, Germany and France. Joy and her husband, Lloyd, who died in 1980, spent many years in Paraguay, an experience that resulted in enduring friendships with treasured friends throughout the world.

After 17 years in Paraguay, Joy and Lloyd returned to their native England with their children, living there until they emigrated to Canada in 1971 settling in Fort Langley. Joy was predeceased by her second husband, Wolfgang, who died in 2001.

We, her children, are thankful that Mum's battle against cancer, fought with her characteristic strength, faith and courage, was mercifully brief, and hope that in lieu of flowers, those who so wish make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society at #202, 20434 64th Ave., Langley, B.C. V2Y 1N4.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 10 at Fraser Heights Funeral Home, 14835 Fraser Highway, Surrey, B.C.
