Judith MacKinnon (nee Einarson)

December 30, 1948 - January 1, 2022
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Judy MacKinnon, loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend, in Abbotsford, British Columbia on January 1, 2022.
Judy was predeceased by her parents Palmi and Violet Einarson, older brother Lynn, and younger brother Gary Einarson.
Judy is lovingly remembered by her husband of 48 years, Rod; her children Jennifer, Colin, and Jonathan; and her grandchildren Nolan, Claudia, Amber, Dayne, and Hunter.
Judy grew up in Gimli, Manitoba on the family farm. She attended Minerva Elementary school, and then went on to Gimli Collegiate High school, where she had received the Governors- General award in academics. After high school, Judy moved to Brandon where attended the University of Manitoba where she completed her certificate in Home Economics in 1967, and then her certificate in education in 1970. In 1969, Judy moved to Langley, British Columbia where she would call home for over 40 years.
In 1984, Judy received her certificate in childcare. Judy was a proud member of the Langley school District for over 20 years teaching at H.D. Stafford Jr. High, Brookswood Jr. High, and Parkside Centennial Elementary. In 2001, Judy obtained her Master's in education from the University of Portland, where she worked as an elementary school administrator at Peterson Road, Langley Fundamental, and Uplands Elementary schools. Judy and Rod moved to Abbotsford in 2012 to settle into retirement. Judy was passionately committed to public school education, having taught from kindergarten to high school, eventually becoming an elementary school administrator.
Judy was a volunteer with the Girl Guides, Beavers, Cubs, a lifelong member of the United Church Women, and an active member of the United Church of Canada. Judy was committed to the mission and service of the United Church of Canada. Judy loved attending church, quilting, knitting, sewing, tending to the birds outside, and visiting with friends and family.
Judy leaves behind a devotion and tradition of love and family that will always be remembered.
Memorial donations can be made in honor of Judy to Children's Hospital Foundation, and the United Church of Canada. A celebration of life will be held March 5, 2022, at 11:00 am at Carmen United Church. 7258 Vedder Rd, Chilliwack, BC V2R 4E4.
