January 19, 1953 - January 14, 2025

With great sadness Karyn's family announces her peaceful passing after a short illness on January 14, 2025, at Chilliwack General Hospital days before her 72nd birthday.

Karyn was predeceased by father Archibald (Bud) and mother Elizabeth (Betty) Wylie, her husband of 35 years James (Jim) McCallum, brother Harold Robert (Bob) Kinnon, and sister Paula. Karyn is survived by sons Stephen (Esther), Bryan, and John (Christina), grandchildren Alexis and Lachlan, brother Dawson (Editha), Paula's husband Cameron Muir, Jim's sister Rhona Lichtenwald (Ron), nephews Jason Wylie, Graham (Faith), Eric and Alexander Muir, nieces Grace and Natalie Lichtenwald, 2 great-nephews, 1 great-niece, her beloved dog Charlie and her favourite squirrel Gary.

Karyn grew up in Montreal and married Jim in 1974, raising their 3 sons in Brampton and Orangeville, ON and Kirkland QC before settling in Langley BC in 1989. Karyn's love for her family only (slightly) surpassed her love of dogs. Karyn loved volunteering with Scouts Canada, where she continued as a Cub leader long after her sons finished. She volunteered at the Langley SPCA and completed the veterinary technician course. She always had at least one dog and loved the joy animals brought to her life. Karyn was a voracious reader and enjoyed her books and library visits. Prior to having children, Karyn worked in office admin and later at Tim Hortons. Her smile, warmth and loving nature will be remembered. She was deeply loved and will be missed

Please join family and friends to celebrate Karyn's life on March 29th from 1-4 pm at Fernridge Hall 2426-200th Street, Langley BC. Donations in Karyn's name to the SPCA are appreciated.
