Lydia Urbasek, age 79, passed away surrounded by her family on May 2nd, 2018 at Laurel Place, Surrey BC. She was born October 21st 1938, in Zabreh Na Morave, Czechoslovakia where she eventually worked her way to the postion: Head of Accounting Department.
She married Lumir Urbasek on April 24th, 1965 and gave birth to her only child Irene Vissia on May 13th 1966. In October of 1968, Lydia, Lumir and Irene escaped the communism in Czechoslovakia through Austria, and immigrated to Calgary, Alberta and eventually settled in Surrey, British Columbia.
She is survived by her husband Lumir Urbasek and daughter Irene Vissia and her husband Ron Vissia, granddaughter Jocelyn and grandson Jeremy.
She will be greatly missed by family and friends and leaves behind a legacy of kindness and sacrifice for others.
To say she will be missed by her family and friends would be an understatement. Lydia left behind a legacy of empathy, kindness and sacrifices to those she loved which will continue to inspire us all.
The memorial will be held May 24th, 11 am.
It will take place at Fleetwood Gospel Hall, 8725 158th Street.
