We lost our beloved mom November 2, 2018. Mae passed away peacefully in the Langley Lodge with loving family at her side. She was 88 years old.
She is predeceased by her parents Herb and Margeret Johannes, her husband Don Smith and her son David (Dave) Smith. Mae will be forever loved by her surviving family- Children Ken (Liviana), Sharon (Dana) and Murray (Evica), her 7 grandchildren Theressa, Don (Christina), Shaunna, Deanne (Jesse), Clinton, Ryan (James), Cory and her 6 great grandchildren Haylee, Isaac, Alex, Dawson, Justin and Brandon.
Mae was born Violet Mae Johannes on January 14, 1930 in Rivers, Manitoba. In 1948 Mae moved West with her Mom, Dad and 4 brothers (Ern, Earl, Ross and Herby)-settling in Langley, BC. Mae married Don in 1951. She lived on Maxwell Crescent in Milner, BC for over 50 years.
Mom was a very active mom and community member. An accomplished cook she worked in the school system as a teaching chef. She retired in 1990. Mae was a great mom and constant supporter who was known for her kindness to family, friends and neighbours. Her care packages filled with homemade goodies were her signature.
Celebration of life will be held at the Milner Chapel on Saturday, November 24 at 1 pm. Light refreshments will be served.
