TIKKANEN, (nee Bull)

Nancy Elizabeth

We, namely her husband, her children and her large extended family of siblings, grand-children, nieces and nephews and their children were devastated by Nancy's passing at Langley Memorial Hospital on the evening of Saturday, September 4th. After being weakened over the years by the unrelenting onslaught of multiple sclerosis. She tried her hardest to get past another bout of pneumonia so that she could get back to the sanctuary of her home; however it was not to be. And so, in profound sadness we have to say goodbye to a warm, positive and loving person who had a presence which made so many people enjoy being part of her life. Nancy, who was born on May 12, 1939 in Timmins, ON, was raised both there and in North Bay, ON. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Ken, her son Jeff, daughter Liisa (Michael), grandchildren Riley, Morgan and Alexander, siblings Grant, Ruth (Robert), Greg (Susan) and Susan (Don) and nephews David (Cathy), Brent (Catherine), Jen (Sandy), Morgan (Danielle) and Logan and nieces Holly and Teshia. Nancy was pre- deceased by her parents Pearl and Stewart Bull and brother Don. Trained as a phys-ed and health teacher Nancy taught at the post secondary and high school levels and later focussed on raising her two children and volunteering in the several communities where she lived over the years. Never far from participating in athletics either as a player or a coach she spent one of her most enjoyable periods in Saskatoon developing and coaching rhythmic gymnastics.

A private tribute is being planned for family only. If anyone feels that they would like to make a donation to charity in Nancy's name then they could do so to one of their own choosing or they could choose one of those with which she had a more direct connection through her long period of illness: namely the CNIB, the MS Society and the Red Cross Society.
