MANLY, Newelll Wallace. Born in Ely, Minnesota on October 1, 1909 to Rev and Mrs J.D. Manly, died peacefully at home on October 19 in his one

hundredth year. He will be lovingly

remembered by his wife of 68 years, Lenna, his son John, his daughter

Norma (Tony), grandchildren Curtis (Michele), Candace (Peter), Ken and Kyle (Kim), John (Carolyn) and Ange, great grandchildren and special nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Mary, Norma, Muriel and brother Harrington (Hap) and daughter-in-law Betts.

Newell grew up in Saskatchewan, graduated from the Univ. of Sask with a degree in Arts and Science and a

degree in Education. He was a High School principal in Le Fleche and

Vonda Sask. He moved to BC in 1937, got his Bed from UBC and taught in Mission where he and Lenna met and married in 1940. He was in the RCAF from 1943 to 1945. He enjoyed many experiences in business and teaching. In 1954 he joined the staff of Langley Secondary School where he taught and counseled until 1975 when he

retired. He then took computer courses, wrote memoirs, and continued to learn until he died. He rode his bike until he was 96. "Young at Heart", he enjoyed life and shared his love of learning with those around him.

A memorial service will be held at Milner Chapel, 6716-216 St. Milner on Saturday, November 8 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations to Langley Retired Teachers Scholarship Fund c/o Maureen Popin, 25323-12 Ave., Aldergrove, V4W 3N2 would be greatly

appreciated.
