"A light is from our household gone, A voice we loved is stilled..."
Norman Paterson, beloved father, brother, grandfather, and great- grandfather passed away peacefully in Langley at the age of 95. Norm was a great dad, understanding but strict, with very high principals that believed in fairness to all. Norm and the love of his life Joyce were married for 70 years before Joyce passed away two years ago.
Norm had many careers including dairy farmer and electrician, and working for the government, first joining the army for WW 2 at the age of 17, driving school bus, working on the highways, and ending his career as a meat inspector. Pretty good for only a grade 8 education.
Norm retired at the age of 52 and traveled the world with Joyce, with many winters in Arizona and summers at their retirement home in Langley, where they lived at Riverwynde for over 30 years. They both loved to garden and Norm took much pride in his shrubs and flowers every year.
Norm is survived by his daughters Diane Chartier, Marlene (& Doug) Watt, and Joanne (& Kevin) Topper, 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, his sisters Flo Swaity and Stuart (& Robert) Dew, and his brother Vern (& Sharon) Paterson, as well as many nieces and nephews. Norm was predeceased by his parents Robert and Helen Paterson, sisters Mary and Margaret, and brother Fred.
A gravesite family and friends service will be held at Langley Lawn Cemetery at 1 pm on July 9, 2019. In Lieu of flowers, please donate to the cause or charity of your choice.
