Ralph BIRD

BIRD - Ralph Francis - born July 9, 1923 in Winnipeg, Manitoba passed away November 6, 2005 at Highland Lodge in Langley.

Survived by his wife Joan of 40 years; daughter Beverley Saumier (Roger); five grandchildren, Nicole (Gary), Dianne (Daniel), Richard (Chantelle), Leslie and David; four great grandchildren, Dylan, Riley, Chloe and Evan.

He will be remembered by his family and friends for his artistic talents, love of jazz and his concern for environmental issues. Ralph served in the RCAF during WWII. He held a degree in B.Sc. of Product Design for ITT, Chicago, Illinois. He worked as a designer of AVROE on the production of the Avro Arrow. Later he pursued a career in education as an art and design teacher at Tech. Voc., Winnipeg, Manitoba. Upon retiring to the West Coast he worked as a TOC in Surrey and Langley School Districts. Ralph was a long time member of St. Andrew's Anglican Community.

Private family service was officiated by Rev. Scott Gould at St. Andrew's Anglican Church. Ralph will be interred at Ross Bay Cemetery, Victoria, B.C.
