Aug 11, 1928 - Mar 15, 2018
Richard Corbet Bunbury passed away quietly at Abbotsford Regional Hospital on March 15, 2018, in his ninetieth year.

Dick was born in La Toque, Quebec, on August 11, 1928. He was the second youngest in a big family. Both parents died pre-maturely and Dick was raised by his aunt and uncle in Montreal. After high school, Dick went to Howick, Quebec, to work on a dairy farm. There he found his passion for agriculture, and attended Bishop's University & Macdonald College. He also met his future wife, Margaret Templeton, and they were married in Howick after he came back from a season of work in Lumby, BC. Dick and Margaret established their own mixed farm in the community of Riverfield, on the English River Road.

Dick worked on the St. Lawrence Seaway and at Ogilvie Flour Mills until the early sixties. He managed several operations for Ogilvie's around Quebec, then began a career with Farm Credit Corporation in Cornwall, Ontario. He became a territory manager in North Bay and mentored a number of young agricultural advisors there, in Ottawa and in Guelph.

Dick and Margaret had five children - Ian (Carol), Wynn (Ted Allard), Cindy, Rick (Karen Steed), & Elly (Terry McNeilly) - ten grandchildren & nine great grandchildren. On Dick's retirement, they moved to Abbotsford, BC, where they have lived for thirty years.

Dick and Margaret traveled to Nepal, China, Africa, Europe, the United States, and throughout Canada. They have been very involved in their children's and grandchildren's lives. Dick was also involved in the Langley Environmental Partners Society, Glenn Valley Watershed Society, Abbotsford Mission Nature Club, and the Abbotsford Soil Conservation Association.

Until recently, Dick was active in the community and on the farm. The family is planning a gathering at the farm in the summer to honor him. In lieu of flowers, please donate to an environmental charity of choice.
