1960-2020 ~ Rudi E. Brenner of Grand Forks, B.C. passed from this life on Tuesday, September 15, 2020.
He is survived by his mother, Charlotte, sister, Heidi and many members of his extended family.
He was predeceased by his father, Erich Brenner, in October of 2012.
Rudi was born in Vancouver, B.C. in June, 1960. He spent his early years growing up in South Vancouver, attending J. W. Sexsmith Elementary School. The family moved to Langley in 1973, where Rudi started his secondary education at D. W. Poppy Middle School. He later attended Langley Secondary.
While attending elementary school Rudi began his musical journey as he learned to play a coronet his father brought home. He was active in the J.W. Sexsmilth Orchestra and later joined the Kitsilano Boys Band.
He continued his musical journey in both Poppy and Langley Secondary School bands. Rudi was also active in playing in church with a brass choir under the direction of his father. He was well known for playing trumpet solos with the church organist for services.
During these years, Rudi was best known for, and is still remembered by many, for his great musical talent. During Remembrance Day assemblies at school, he would sound The Last Post. In later years his rendition of Trumpet Voluntary often left his audience amazed and thankful for the experience of hearing him play.
Rudi will also be remembered for his great sense of humour. A celebration of his life will be held in the summer of 2021.
