June 30, 1928 - December 7, 2020
We announce our dear Sam has gone to be with the Lord. Our hearts are heavy but we are grateful for the legacy he has left behind.
Sam was predeceased by his loving wife Betty and dear son Lorne Samuel. He is survived by his daughter Darlene (husband Terry), brother Ed (wife Val), granddaughters Crystal (husband Jacob), Erica (husband Blaine) and Amanda, along with his great grandchildren Makena, Arlo, Koa, Malakai and soon to be baby No. 5 - his grandchildren would like you to know he was "THE BEST."
As a young man Sam, travelled across Canada from his birthplace of Ontario and worked tirelessly as a logger until he could earn enough money to buy a house and marry his sweetheart Betty.
In the early sixties Sam proudly enjoyed his role of being a father and worked extremely hard to get Trinity Junior College (now Trinity Western University) up and running.
Sam was a dedicated man of God and found great joy in serving at the Langley Evangelical Free Church. Later Sam, along with his brother Ed, started Western Country Enterprises, a full- service plumbing and gas fitting company.
Sam also embarked on many missions' trips and served at church camps as a labourer, always taking on the hardest, dirtiest jobs. When he reluctantly retired at the age of 86 in 2014 Sam never stopped working and helping others. A strong man with a soft heart. Sam was compassionate, humble and steadfast.
He lived a life that earned the respect of everyone around him. He was always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear. Although our tractor driving, chainsaw loving Irishman will be greatly missed, he went out with his boots on and hopes we all do the same.
We will thank God for health and strength everyday - we love you Sam!
