Sanne (Sandra) Byl passed peacefully to be with Jesus on Monday, September 24th, 2018. She was predeceased by her husband Hendrik and their daughter Janet Marian (husband Brad) Edwards. Sandra will be lovingly remembered by her son Harry (Shirley) Byl of Kelowna, daughter Teri (Ken) Bosch of Surrey and son John (Connie) Byl of Hamilton. Oma will be deeply missed by her 8 grandchildren, their partners and spouses, and her 4 great grandchildren. Family meant everything to Oma and she loved every visit she could have with any of them.
Sandra was born in Sneek, Friesland, Netherlands April 6, 1932, the oldest of four children. She went to work at an early age after the death of her father. When she had free time she particularly enjoyed ice skating and it was during one such outing that she met the love of her life, Hendrik Byl. Two weeks after marrying in October, 1953 they moved to Canada to begin their life together. Sandra worked hard in her home, church and at odd jobs always putting her family as her first priority. She was a woman of quiet faith and strong Christian convictions.
The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers who helped Sandra over the years, especially those at Menno Hospital and at Elim Village while she was in Residential Care this past year.
A memorial service will be held at Willoughby Church, 20525, 72nd Avenue, Langley, BC at 1:30 pm, Thursday, October 18th, 2018.
Although Sandra loved receiving flowers the family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Covenant Kids Christian Daycare, 20525, 72nd Avenue, Langley, BC in Sandra's memory.
