Ted DYKSTRA

DYKSTRA, TED: It is with sadness that the extended family of Ted Dykstra (Tinus Dijkstra) wish to announce his passing at Delta Hospital on February 7, 2005 several years after being diagnosed with cancer. Ted was born in Andijk, Holland on March 25, 1935 and is survived by his sister, Akke Dijkstra, three brothers and their wives - Sid & Clara Dykstra of Port Alberni, Stan & Jane Dykstra of Parksville and Dirk & Nel Kijkstra of Andijk, Holland, numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and Holland and a multitude of friends. Ted moved to Canada in the late 1950's, first settling on Sea Island and later moving to Ladner where he spent the last 40 years of his life. Ted worked at many jobs in his life - farmer, rancher, butcher. He also had two great talents - he was a champion speed skater and he had the ability to make and keep friends of all ages and from all walks of life. A service celebrating his life is being held for his family and friends on Wednesday, February 16th, 2005 at 2:00 PM at Ladner United Church, located at 4960 48th Avenue, Ladner, B.C. with a reception to follow at the church hall.
