Violet Mary HOLYOAK

HOLYOAK, Violet Mary. With great sadness the family announces the passing of Violet Holyoak (nee Paton) at Langley Memorial Hospital on February 21, 2005, aged 79. Born May 11, 1925 in Burnaby, B.C., she spent her entire life in the Lower Mainland. She and her husband Jim farmed in Glen Valley from their marriage in 1946 until their retirement in 1973. Their retirement years were spent in Aldergrove and Murrayville. She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, James; son Keith Holyoak (Patricia Cheng), Los Angeles, California; daughters Heather Beck (Eric), Langley; Iris Blair (Ian Hollands), Murrayville; and Laurel Holyoak (Barry Baker), Langley. She is also survived by her brother Ian Paton (Marjorie), and their children David, Bryce, Ian and Glenda. She will be missed by her ten grandchildren: James, Jessica, Neil, Vanessa, Erica, Curtis, Elizabeth, Cameron, Troy and Colton. Violet is also mourned by Hattie Hogeterp, Bruce Bose and their son Ben. Special thanks to Dr. Peter Methven, as well as the hospital staff for their care and compassion. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2pm at Sharon United Church, 21562 Old Yale Road, Murrayville. Service will be officiated by Violet's close friend, Reverend Elizabeth McLagan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to B.C. Cancer Foundation, 200 - 601 Broadway W., Vancouver, B.C.
