A challenge to runners — try a little friendliness

Greeting people indicates that runners and cyclists are not snobs who think only of their training times.

Editor: My wife mentioned to me after her run on Sunday that not one of the people she said hello to returned the greeting. I, too, have had the same experience during my runs or bike rides.

There is a small segment of runners who say hello as they pass. Are we really that snobby? Are we that into our training? Or have we all just given up being nice?

I challenge every runner in Langley to say a friendly hello to everyone on your next run. Maybe it will be contagious and catch on. A little friendliness is an infection we should all try to get.
