Del Barron, who with his brother Walt operated Barron and Sons Garage in Langley City for 40 years, was among the pioneer mechanics honoured at Douglas Day. The garage was originally opened by his father in 1937.

Editor: Many thanks to the Douglas Day committee and the volunteers who made the 156th anniversary of Douglas Day such a success. Thanks also to Jim McGregor, for organizing and honouring the pioneer mechanics.

I was honoured at the event, but credit really goes to my Dad, who immigrated to Langley from Alberta in 1937, with seven children.

He built and operated the garage until 1957, and he was the real pioneer. My brother Walt and I bought and operated the business until 1997. It would not have been a success without our dedicated clientele. Many thanks to all the Langley residents who were our customers and friends.

Del Barron,
