I completely disagree with spending $100,000 for a study. Spend the money where it belongs, paving this absurd and dangerous stretch of road that is now an important artery.
The Five Corners roundabout and the lights at Fraser Highway and Old Yale encourage more traffic on Old Yale Road — both intelligent engineering.
I have been suggesting to anyone listening over the last three years that the Heritage (Advisory) Committee is out of touch. A concrete road is not important heritage just because it is concrete.
I have also suggested that if a concrete road is so important to the Heritage (Advisory) Committee, take a couple of big chunks and put up an obelisk at either end of that section of Old Yale and attach bronze plaques to them. They could also crush a chunk of the concrete and sell pieces to interested parties.
Put a big chunk in the museum. Put on the thinking caps, and save the tires and wheel alignment on my car.
The City of Langley to their credit had the courage to do the right thing when they paved their section of Old Yale. I hope the Township of Langley demonstrates the same resolve.
