The Brookswood/Fernridge Community Plan bylaw adopted by Township council on Aug. 31, 1987, is way more sustainable than any suggested plan to date.
Council should look up the definition of “sustainable†in the dictionary.
Here are a few excerpts:
• Sustainability is how biological systems remain diverse and productive.
• Sustainability is improving the quality of human life while living within the carrying capacity of supporting eco-systems.
• Sustainability concerns the specification of a set of actions to be taken by present persons (i.e. this mayor and council) that will not diminish the prospects of future persons to enjoy levels of consumption, wealth, utility, or welfare comparable to those enjoyed by present persons.
Densifying is not proving to be sustainable.
It’s just one thing after another, when it comes to massive density. Roads, bridges, schools, police, hospitals, fire halls… all are paid for over the long run, moreso by taxpayers, and less by in-and-out, quick-profit developers.
Stick with the 1987 Brookswood/Fernridge community plan.
