Dear Editor,
[RE: No apology to Township needed, says City council, Jan. 17, langleyadvancetimes.com]
It's becoming a bit confusing as to know who is representing the residents of Langley City on their own council.
I was chatting with a friend recently and they mentioned reading an article about policing. He started talking about two Township councillors in the article who were upset about the language used.

When I asked what Township councillors he was talking about, he said Leith White and Delaney Mack. I had to point out that they are actually City councillors, not Township.
It is odd how preoccupied the two of them seem to be with keeping the Township council happy, at least judging by how frequently they appear in news articles bashing their fellow council members.
At least in Mr. White's case, it makes sense, since he is a Township resident. I've always been curious how that works since he's making decisions on issues that don't impact him where he lives. But it's becoming more obvious that he really is more concerned about the Township than the City, after all.
On the other hand, Coun. Rosemary Wallace seems to be someone who really does put the City first. At a recent council meeting I watched, she stood up for the City in a way that others should take note of.
It really is weird to see a larger municipality, so obsessed with what is happening in a neighbouring City and trying to impact their work for their own residents. It was nice to see someone on council standing up for the City, rather than bowing down to a politician from another municipality.
