Don’t feel comfortable that you can visit the City of Langley’s downtown?
Perhaps have lunch and maybe do a bit of shopping without possibly getting a parking ticket?
Last week I was having lunch with a friend to celebrate my birthday.
Realizing that we had been parked for almost two hours, we left the restaurant, moved both of our cars and continued to explore the many interesting shops in the City of Langley.
When we came back to our cars (less than an hour later) we each had a bylaw violation ticket on our windshields – $50 or $25 if it is paid within 10 days.
We had been in the area for less than three hours.
I paid the ticket that day and spoke a few days later to the City of Langley office that handles parking violations.
The person I spoke to informed me that there is a two-hour limit to parking (which is indicated on their signage) but in order to remain in the City of Langley longer than two hours, one must move their vehicle at least one block away.
He also mentioned that parking used to be allowed for three hours and it was changed to two.
I know that in order to limit abuse of the very limited parking in the area, there has to be some control.
I’m just curious as to why the public is not made aware of this regulation.
In closing I would like to point out that a movie was being shot in this area that day, and both my friend and I drove around for almost 10 minutes before we were able to find a parking spot.
