It’s apparent that Kim Richter’s campaign letter writers are getting in some early practice. [Not too late to protect the character of Brookswood, Dec. 16, Langley Advance].
While it may be convenient to blame politicians, this letter writer is completely off the mark when he starts to take out his frustrations by blaming everybody and everything including the Brookswood/Fernridge 2017 OCP.
Mr. Cameron’s photos of the downed trees on a lot are in the “developed” part of Brookswood, where an old house is being replaced by a bigger new one. He then uses this issue to catapult, exaggerate, and frame every other conceived prejudice to make political points.
All of Brookswood/Fernridge has been slated for development since 1987.
Most of those objecting during the OCP process were from the “developed” area, because they wanted things to be left alone as they were, to “maintain the character of the developed areas.”
They were granted their wish, yet they still complain.
Mr. Cameron says that “the politicians were entrusted to be stewards of the entire community,” but he forgets that the future developed areas will be part of the community, too.
Mr. Cameron’s poor attempt to promote Councillor Richter has completely back-fired. This “say-no-to-everything councillor” is not leadership material.
Sadly, Councillor Richter has no mayoral leadership qualities in my opinion, and more importantly, a true leader knows when his/her time is up and she has been on council since the last century.
