Letter: Loss of Langley venue means one less place to dance

A local letter writer says people have to have somewhere to boogie.

Dear Editor,

I’m very saddened to hear that the Summit Theatre is being replaced by a bingo hall.

Not only is this a loss of a significant performance space, but a loss of one of the few places left in the area to enjoy dancing to good live rock bands (my favourite form of exercise, the availability of which was actually a factor in my decision to move to Langley.)

The Newlands lounge is still going after many years, thank goodness, but I don’t know of any others nearby.

The other venues are mainly concert oriented, as far as I know, and I certainly don’t want to encourage the aggravating trend of people standing up in their seats and attempting to dance while blocking the view of people behind them. The people got to boogie!
