There’s the real world, and then there’s the teachers’ world.
The teachers union (BCTF) needs to be reminded that it is the public in B.C. who own the education system (and pay for it), and not the teachers.
But their union, like their president’s mullet hair style, belongs in the 1980s: its response to our duly elected representatives, job action, and the heck with the kids.
The teachers wrap themselves in the cloak of self-righteousness and profess to be on the side of the kids, but they are clearly only concerned with themselves, as demonstrated by their unreasonable demands, such as four times the wage increase of other public workers, and free massages, to mention a few.
The teachers voted overwhelmingly in favour of strike action which will negatively affect all of the students’ report cards, end-of-year activities, and graduations.
And the teachers wonder why they get little respect?
Yup, the teachers and their union just cannot see the forest for the trees.
I am one taxpayer who is fed up with the BCTF’s inability to get along with any provincial government, no matter which party is in power, and would be glad to see the provincial government pull a “Ronald Reagan,†as he did with the air traffic controllers when they chose job action in the 1980s in the U.S. He fired them all.
