Editor: It is not clear what David Neilsen (Letters, the Times, Jan. 31) is concerned about.
Any decisions regarding medical treatment including gender reassignment would be a matter for the parents, the child and medical professionals.
I am confident that they would make decisions in the best long term interests of the child.
School trustee Barry Neufield raised the issue in the context of the SOGI curriculum in schools but that is entirely irrelevant.
SOGI is not about gender reassignment treatment.
It is about children being respectful of each other, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.
