Letters: Deer's death improperly attached to hunting

Dear Editor,

Assumptions vilify law-abiding citizens.

It was disgusting to read about the killing of the pinto deer [Poacher shot deer across busy Langley road, Nov. 21, Langley Advance], and equally disgusting to read that a sport shooter or hunter is to be blamed for this act.

Just because they own the same tools does not mean these groups of individuals have anything to do with this sort of act.

Killing this animal in this fashion broke up to 10 laws on municipal, provincial, and federal levels. The person responsible for this act is simply a criminal.

Sport shooters and hunters take specific courses and testing, including ones involving safety and the laws surrounding their activities. It is necessary for them to follow the rules and laws to allow continuation of these activities.

Quit vilifying the law-abiding with false assumptions, and focus on dealing with criminals in the community.
