Langley Advance’s dedicated team is constantly striving to bring Langley news and happenings to the attention of our readers, and to do so in a timely fashion.

Well, this newspaper team appears to be doing something right. The Langley Advance, which has served this community since 1931, has been shortlisted as one of the best overall newspapers in the province – according to its industry peers.

The British Columbia and Yukon Community Newspaper Association unveiled a shortlist of award recipients, and the Langley Advance is being recognized for “general excellence” in our circulation category.

We’re also in contention for top honours for a sports photograph, Splash and Dash, taken by Troy Landreville at the June 2016 TRI-IT Triathlon.

We won’t know until the end of April how we place – specifically. But we know we’re bringing home a first, second, or third in each of those categories.

Of course, kudos all around to the Advance team. Honestly, we have some of the best people in the industry working here, and it shows in everything they do.

But this triumph is not so much about us. It’s about you – our faithful readers. These accolades go to all of you in Langley.

Naturally, in part, it’s the advertisers who help support this long-standing community business.

But it’s also thanks to all the incredible community champions out there who keep us informed and connected, who call with breaking news tips, email us information and pictures about community happenings, and so often share personal details about their lives. It’s all of you who help keep this community newspaper relevant.

And, it’s the readers who turn to us for everything Langley (in print, on web, through Facebook, on Twitter, or even on Instagram) who make all our effort worthwhile.

These awards, whatever level is achieved, are thanks to you!

– R.H.

CAPTION: Langley Advance has been classified one of the best B.C. community newspapers in its circulation category by industry peers. And a large part of that credit it owed to you.
